Goodbye Jermaine?

For those who love him, this means no more for our ‘gentle giant,’ but for those of us rooting for Phillip, Skylar, or Colton, this means, just one more down. Two weeks ago, Southern Indiana was hit terribly with tornadoes. Homes, schools, and churches are now rubble. They have near to nothing and need our help! Student council is collecting money from swims this week to send to the Victims of Henryville. Make sure you donate as much as possible!

Caffeine Can Burn Fat

A study by Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden found that caffeine can help break down fat stored in your body. While that sounds great, and you’ll be tempted to down a few espressos, don’t. Caffeine doesn’t do that great of a job in breaking down fat. It would take about 50 cups of coffee to break down any considerable amount of fat. That amount of caffeine is extremely dangerous for your health and can lead to health complications. Keep it in moderation and you should be fine.

Music Intelligence

Did you know Psychiatrists say that the wider variety of music you like the higher your intelligence? I listen to a little bit of everything and I am not an A student. So is it true? Sure you may seem smarter because you know more about music than most people. But does it really effect your intelligence level? I would have to say no. I mean I know a lot of smart people that only listen to a certain kind of music. Take my brother for instance, he listens to rock only and he is a high honor student! I’m starting to believe that people that only listen to one type of music does better in school. Is it because they are set on one thing at a time or is it that music has absolutely nothing to do with your intelligence level… I’m leaning towards the second opinion.

Prom Advice!

Besides a dress, the shoes, and all the accessories you need, what else do you need to know about prom? Here are some tips that may help you.
For Girls: Some guys are intimidated by girls, and really want to them out, but don't know how. I think asking the guy is perfectly alright, as long as you feel confident ...and just remember if he says no, a pack of girls can sometimes be just as fun as a boy/girl date.
For Guys: You don’t have to spend a ton on going to eat before prom. Think Applebee’s or somewhere like that. Just remember to be careful on what you order!
Memories: Ten, twenty, or maybe even thirty years from now you'll want to sit back and reminisce about the "good old days." One memory you'll probably want to remember is from your prom. There are many ways to help you immortalize one of the most special nights of your life. Remember… SMILE in all of your parent’s pictures!!

Texting and Grammar Skills

Some people believe that texting is destroying teens grammar and writing skills. In truth it is not! Texting actually works the brain in ways that correct grammar can’t! Your brain has to actually work to translate the abbreviations. Not to mention that teens are smart enough to keep the informal writing style out of their school work.
Sure there may be a few mistakes here and there but hey they might be on to something. Our “formal” English format we use today is actually Latin derived from Greek!
We did the same thing to those writing styles as teens are doing to ours. So maybe in the future we will have a new alphabet!

SW Lone Survivor

Our school went through a catastrophic event. It was December 12, 1992 when an electrical fire that started in the computer lab in the elementary. Just 24 years after the school Southern Wells was formed and it’s whole elementary burned to the ground! The only wall left is located in the elementary gym hallway. The High School was never touched except for the right side of the ramp leading up to the high school. But our high school has been around for a lot longer than that! Before Southern Wells was formed in 1968 we were known as the Chester Township Indians! My grandpa graduated from Chester in 1954. Can you believe that? There were three others too Liberty Center Lions, Jackson Center Jaguars, and the Petroleum Panthers! We still have the original banners in our gym today! Our great school has been through a lot to make it the amazing learning place it is today.

Look A Likes

Has someone ever told you that you look like some famous star?
Do you think you look like someone famous? They say that everyone has a copy of themselves somewhere in the world. For some like the Mooberry twins and the Longenberger twins their matches aren’t to far away. What would you do if you met your exact look alike? What would you say, would you be into the same things do you think? Hmm the possibilities are slim to none in reality. But hey maybe some day in the future you will be able to clone yourself. You could have the brother or sister you always wanted. No offense to any of the siblings reading this…

Seriously though scientists are actually studying this now, they are in the midst of cloning the wooly mammoth! Could you imagine looking out into your back yard and seeing an animal that went extinct millions of years ago? So maybe we never have to worry about going extinct.
