It’s Hot Out There!!!

The unseasonably hot weather has taken over the eastern half of the United States… Who ever said global warming was a bad thing? The cause of this phenomenon is the unusually high jet stream that takes off north around the Rocky Mountain area. As a result, over half of the states have already seen an 80 degree day or higher, and Arizona of all places has seen snow within the past week! And the normally cold Chicago has seen people laying out on the beech of Lake Michigan. Whatever it is that is really causing this I hope it stays around for a while.

IU For the Win!!!!

The Indiana Hoosiers knocked of the Cinderella hopeful VCU Rams on Saturday March 17. Indiana played one of their worst games of the year turning it over 23 times in a 63-61 victory. Christian Watford lead the Hoosiers in scoring, hitting multiple 3-point shots throughout the game. Hoosier nation was in shock after the first half, Indiana was down due to Shocka Smart’s ruthless pressure defense forcing the Hoosiers to break the press and turn it over. The Big Ten ended up with 6 teams in the tournament and now 4 still remain in the Sweet 16 along with 4 team from the Big East, given that they were the two superior conferences in the country this year. The Hoosiers will now face off in a grudge match from December with the Kentucky Wildcats; in the first meeting Christian Watford hit a game winning 3-pointer as time ran out to beat the Wildcats 73-72. It should be a great game as long as the Hoosiers can shut down the All-American at Center for the Wildcats, Anthony Davis (14.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game) who was also named the Defensive Player of the Year. Indiana will have to get Davis in foul trouble, limit turnovers, and get the ball to Cody Zeller in the post, who is an All-Conference player and also a Freshman of the Year Candidate. The game takes place Friday night at 9:00 o’clock. The Thriller couldn’t get here soon enough for this Indiana Fanatic!

Tricycle Drifting

Ever think that you would still be riding your
tricycle after your toddler years? Ever think you would top out at 25 mph? Well
a new extreme stunt sweeping the web at over 4 million views in less than 4 days
is a group of thrill seekers drifting through neighbor hoods on insane looking
Tricycles! These bikes have no review mirrors, brakes, or pedals! And by the
looks of the safety precautions these guys are taking “none” I’d say this isn’t
a very good idea. But hey I’m not one to judge and it is entertaining to watch.

Hoosier Hysteria!

The Indiana Hoosiers proved many non-believers wrong in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers took on the New Mexico State Lobos in Portland, Oregon. They jumped out to a quick lead in the first half and lead the entire game, as they easily put away the Lobos 79-66. Indiana will take on the Cinderella Story from last year, the VCU Rams. The (12)Rams upset the (5)Witchita State Shockers, in the first round of the Tourney and will play the Hoosiers in Portland for a trip to the Sweet 16 on Saturday March 17.

For those of you that watch American Idol.. Have you heard? Jermaine Jones has stated in his latest tweet, “Awww I will no longer b on the show." For those who love him, this means no more for our ‘gentle giant,’ but for those of us rooting for Phillip, Skylar, or Colton, this means, just one more down. Keep watching American Idol on FOX Wednesdays and Thursdays 8/7C.

Caffeine Can Burn Fat

A study by Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden found that caffeine can help break down fat stored in your body. While that sounds great, and you’ll be tempted to down a few espressos, don’t. Caffeine doesn’t do that great of a job in breaking down fat. It would take about 50 cups of coffee to break down any considerable amount of fat. That amount of caffeine is extremely dangerous for your health and can lead to health complications. Keep it in moderation and you should be fine.

Music Intelligence

Did you know Psychiatrists say that the wider variety of music you like the higher your intelligence? I listen to a little bit of everything and I am not an A student. So is it true? Sure you may seem smarter because you know more about music than most people. But does it really effect your intelligence level? I would have to say no. I mean I know a lot of smart people that only listen to a certain kind of music. Take my brother for instance, he listens to rock only and he is a high honor student! I’m starting to believe that people that only listen to one type of music does better in school. Is it because they are set on one thing at a time or is it that music has absolutely nothing to do with your intelligence level… I’m leaning towards the second opinion.
